The people that run the Guesthouse are very friendly and tell you everything you want to know about the area and where you can get the best meals. You really have a head start on the place! The guesthouse is basic and neat. Internet is free and you can help yourself in the Kitchen.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riverview Guesthouse. The owners (Mani and Raymond) were probably amongst the nicest guesthouse owners we have met on our travels over the last 8 months. If Mani and Raymond were not around Faisal would be there and he was also extemely helpful and nice. The guesthouse rooms were good size and clean. The location was excellent being 5-10 mins from most attractions/restaurants. It was also very nice to be given a detailed map and talk about Melaka when we arrived (along with a cold drink!). We found numerous restaurants and sights as a result. On top of this all they provide delicious cakes! Beware the giant lizards along the river though!! =) Highly recommended.

One of the better places we have stayed at in Malaysia so far.Good central riverside location and not noisy during the night (as long as you don't want to sleep late). On a main road on front side. Great showers. Really friendly owners always baking nice goodies for their customers. In a nice old house with beautiful wooden floors.

The owners are very helpful and will give you an orientation of the area when you check in. If we had stayed here longer than one night we probably would have taken advantage of the advice. We did eat at some of the recommended restaurants which were fantastic! The hostel itself is clean, there is a computer and wifi available and a self-catering kitchen. We would recommend this place to everyone without exception. We would return if we ever come back to Melaka...wish we had more than 1 day to explore it.

its an old building...but they renovate it to a good place to sleep..really cozy and fun...especially the view from the back terrace.for me its kinda new experience to slept in historical building, especially the wooden floor, it really need some ability for you to walk gently so u wont disturb the other guests with ur footsteps.also for Raymond and Mani, they really helpful and very friendly to all guests. they provide a lot of information for us (becoz this was the first time for us to visit Melaka).but most of all i just want to say that it is really a good place for u to stay and feel like home..enjoy it... :D

It's a great choice of accommodation in Malacca: Value for money, cleanliness and especially very helpful and friendly staff. The only problem is that it's quite noisy during the night(vehicles and people passing by), so if you have problem with your sleep, it might not be for you.

River View Guest House
94-96 Jalan Kampung Pantai, 75200, Malacca, Malaysia
Experience staying in a double storey pre-war shop-house that has been refurbished without compromising the exterior façade. River View Guest House just opened its doors in April 2009. It offers the comforts of home and at the same time, able to cater to the needs of travelers on a budget.
All rooms have windows. Towels are provided for guest use. There is a sitting, TV and dining area with a kitchen for light cooking. Drinking water, coffee and tea is provided complimentary.
The first floor terrace has a magnificent view of the Melaka River snaking majestically through traditional Melaka shop-houses and homes (thus the name of the guest house). You could sit here in the evening, drink beer and watch the boats go by or just take a walk along the river, which is brightly and beautifully lighted at night. This is true local living.
